Public access community television is a very powerful tool that
too many arts organizations have left out of their marketing
arsenals. Consider taking advantage of the opportunity cable
TV provides to inform your community about what your museum has
to offer.
Public access shows are free for production and airtime, and
a program produced and aired locally can be shown on other communities'
cable stations as well. If you're energetic, you can send your
show all over your state or even across the nation. You may be
surprised at how much attention and feedback you get. It might
even be a way to lay the groundwork for a federal or state arts
grant.
We are producing one of these shows on our local cable TV
system to promote our cultural and arts programs. I have produced
hundreds of free public access TV shows over the years for various
organizations and have had great success with them. Try it yourself
. . . you will see it works!
